About Us

  • Good question.

    We like film. No we LOVE film.

    We like digital too but the idea of running a shop selling SD Cards just doesn’t make us smile. We also are film photographers first and foremost.

  • This is a tough one, because we have lots of respect for many of the other companies in this space. Many of them we’ve been customers of in the past.

    Ultimatley what we think sets us apart is that we’re small and we’re new.

    We don’t have a huge client base to lean on. Nor will we measure our success by the number of orders we ship out in a week. We want to get to know our customers, champion their work and be part of their creative process.

    We want to inspire people who have never taken a photo on film, or never used a camera that couldn’t receive phone calls, to try it.

    The day the last person picks up a camera for the first time, fires the shutter and catches light on an emulsion will be a deeply tragic day.

    Also we have a dog call called Doris whos nickname is Dodo. We named the business after her.

  • We’re a UK based business running out of our lab in (not always) sunny Cornwall in the South West.

    We currently don’t offer walk in services, we’re strictly online only at the moment.

  • Yes!

    Spend £50 and we’ll post your items out to you by Royal Mails Tracked 48 service. We’ll even do this the same day if you order before 4pm.

  • We can develop 35mm, 120, APS film formats in C41 colour, B&W, and E6 slide film. We cant currently offer ECN2 but are eagerly trying to offer this service soon.

  • If you order before 4pm Mon-Fri we will pack and dispatch your order that day. If you order after 4pm we will make every effort to carefully package your order that day but we cant make promises!

  • We are firm believers in common sense, so if you buy something and arent happy we offer a 30 day returns window.

  • We’ve thought long and hard about this but we just cant justify partaking in single use plastics.

    So sorry no we don’t.

    We do still process the film from them but if you’re looking at buying a camera can we suggest you look at affordable reusable cameras, such as the Kodak M35, or the Ektar H35.

  • The price varies depending on the type of film you need to be developed and if you require scans what resolution you choose.

  • Sure we can!

    There may be strange colour shifts or fogging which we cant control but this can just be booked in normally.

    If the film was exposed and has been in storage for a long time without it being developed then please add this to the notes section of the order, telling us when the film was shot. We’ll make a judgement on how best to develop the film.

  • We can develop 110 film but we are unable to scan it on our scanner, we do however have access to a wet lab system so can prints from it in 6×4.

  • Unfortunately at the moment we are unable to offer this service. We are very keen to add this in the future so please check back, but for now we are unable to.

  • No, sorry we are not able to develop souped film

  • Please speak to us about any concerns you have about damaged film. We can be contacted here.

  • Yes, all negatives are returned.

    If we develop a blank roll or a damaged roll with no images we may agree to destroy them for you and refund the postage, but otherwise all negatives with an image on them will be returned. This is because we are unable to destroy them in a GDPR compliant way on site.

  • Yes! We think everyone should keep their negatives.

  • We sell archival grade sleeving for this. They should be kept in a cool and dry space. Be careful handling them unnecessarily.

  • Colour film often has an orange base, during the scanning process the negative is inverted (making it a positive) and the orange base wont be noticeable.

  • Yes, this is one of the reasons we think everyone should keep their negatives.

  • This luckily happens very rarely but should it happen we would refund you the cost of scanning and the cost of the postage and packaging to get the film back to you if you want us to dispose of this for you.

  • We will do our best to get an image from the roll but underexposure makes this tough. If you know you’ve underexposed then please let us know.

  • We provide instructions on this via email after ordering, but they can also be found here.

  • This will depend on what you intend to do with the images once developed and scanned.
