About Foma
Foma, officially Foma Bohemia, is a Czech company with roots stretching back to the 19th century and a continuous presence in photographic materials that makes it one of the oldest active producers in the field.
Founded in 1921 in Hradec Králové, Czechoslovakia, Foma emerged from earlier photographic chemical and photographic paper activities that had developed in the region during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The company’s name derives from the acronym of its original Czech designation. Early on it specialised in silver-gelatine photographic paper and chemicals for black-and-white photography, building a reputation for reliable, affordable products used by both amateurs and professionals.
Today Foma Bohemia is recognised as a key survivor and proponent of silver-based photography. Operating from its Czech facilities, it continues to produce traditional black-and-white film, photographic paper and chemistry, combining long-standing craftsmanship with incremental technical updates to meet contemporary quality and environmental standards. Its continuity and commitment to analogue photography have made Foma an important name for those seeking authentic, non-digital photographic processes.

Fomapan Classic is a 100 speed black and white film offering up a vintage look. It balances fine grain, good sharpness and good midtones, and it does all this in a very affordable package. Being 100 speed its best shot outside or in a studio setting.

Action by name action by nature, the Fomapan Action 400 film excels in changeable lighting or when you need a quick shutter speed to capture a fast moving object. It not too grainy but is not as finer grain as some 400 speed films, and it starts to get more contrasty that the previous films in the Fomapan line up but it still delivers a classic film look on a budget.

Ilford Pan 100 is a great all purpose film offering fine detail and great tonal range. It reproduces skin tones in a particularly pleasing way, but would suit any type of photography thanks to its warm tones. Its not as popular as other Ilford films but its a film we love here at Dodo and if you give a go we’re sure you will to.
